Offline personal storage

Your personal records, stored on the device. You choose what, if anything, leaves it.

Kryptbox is pocket hardware with 16 MB of protected storage for everyday information—logins, secure notes, PDFs, and compressed images. It is not a cryptocurrency wallet and does not connect to blockchains. There is no default cloud account; backups are optional and under your control.

Hardware

16 MB on the device.
Offline by default.

A dedicated storage chip holds your data locally. The device is not designed as always-on network hardware—routine use does not require an internet connection or a Kryptbox cloud account.

Capacity

What 16 MB holds
(typical use)

All content shares one pool of space. Figures below are planning estimates—not guarantees of how many items you can save. Larger files, attachments, and metadata use more room.

  • Passwords & logins — about 8,000–20,000 typical entries (site, username, password, short note) at roughly 0.5–2 KB each.
  • Text notes — thousands of short plain-text notes, or hundreds of longer ones (roughly 1–4 KB each).
  • Documents — on the order of 20–60 smaller PDFs or Office files if they average a few hundred KB; fewer if each file is multi-megabyte.
  • Images — suited to IDs, scans, and compressed JPEGs (about 150–400 KB each): roughly 40–100 at that size. Only a handful of full-resolution phone photos (often 2 MB+) fit; this is not a photo library.

Security

Designed to limit
remote access.

Staying offline by default reduces everyday remote attack paths. We do not claim the device is “unhackable”—physical access, supply-chain risk, and sophisticated attacks remain real. Product pages describe protections at a high level; we do not publish full cryptographic design documents on the site.

Control

Backups and recovery
stay under your control.

You can copy data to another device or keep recovery material offline. There is no subscription to unlock your own files, and no Kryptbox cloud account is required for normal use.

Transparency

What we can—and cannot—claim today.

Kryptbox is a small, independent hardware project. Firmware is not open source at this time, and we have not published independent third-party security audits. We welcome questions before you buy; see product specs on the store and our terms and privacy policy for how the website and orders work.
